Written for my father-in-law, Charles, who passed away on June 27th, 2013. He and I once went fishing together. He stole my bass! At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I'VE GONE FISHIN' – 6/27/13
Music & Lyrics - Alexander James Adams

I'm taking a break, headin up to the lake
A fishin pole in my hand
It ain't a crime to be takin your time
Exploring this blessed land

A bright blue sky, the wind runnin' high
Pushing sweet summer air
Feeling just fine with dandilion wine
And I haven't got a care

Caught a fish or two with my buddies and some brew
Got the whole day ahead with nothin' to do
Don't call on my phone cause it won't get through!
I've gone fishin'!

Simple and free that's the way it should be
It's how I like my day
Steppin' right back from life's busy track
To see what comes my way

I enjoy all the things that workin' hard brings
Like a home and a family
Now the tide has turned and I've finally earned
A little time for me

You never know what's comin' down-
Or what's gonna rise up with the dawn-
This big ol' world keeps turnin' us around
So when you see what you want then you'd better go grab on!

I'm takin this day, gonna have it my way
But there's one thing I'll still do-
Is smile and make sure I tell everyone of you-
I've gone fishin'!
